HOW DO FREE-WHEELING HUBS WORK?
AVM free-wheeling hubs are installed on the ends of the front axles of 4x4 vehicles. Their main function is to allow the driver to manually disconnect the front wheels from the drivetrain when driving in 2WD (4x2) mode.
To use them, simply turn the hub cap from “4x4” to “4x2” (or vice versa) before starting the vehicle. This disconnects the front wheels, preventing them from being dragged by the transmission.
Daily benefits: lower fuel consumption, reduced wear on the differential, transmission and tires, and a quieter, smoother ride on the road. When full traction is needed, they are easily engaged to switch to 4x4.
